Heatwave

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents, visitors, businesses and landowners to help reduce the risk of wildfires and outdoor fires during the hot weather this spring and summer, launching the #WildfireReady campaign.

Wildfire season typically begins in spring, when dry vegetation and windy conditions can increase the risk of rural fires and fires in the open, with recent incidents highlighting how quickly fires can start and spread rapidly.

Station Manager Trevor Funnell, ESFRS Wildfire Lead said, “We want people to enjoy our beautiful countryside and open spaces safely, but it’s important everyone understands the risks during warm, dry weather. Simple actions can make a huge difference in preventing fires from starting and spreading. By working together and being prepared, we can help protect people, property, wildlife and the environment.”
