Strumming in the sunshine
The sun shone, the ukuleles were strummed, the kazoos were blown - and it was festival time during the Bank Holiday weekend. Who knows whether the Big Strum set a record, but something like 300 musicians were trying to synchronise their efforts. Lorna Hall reports

Bowen buzzes over her BGT break

Challenging bridge to art
Rye Creative Centre opened its doors last weekend to welcome visitors to an exhibition of work by artists based at the former Freda Gardham School in New Road. Featured above, Jenny Pockley with her painting, Balloon. And the challenge, reports Kenneth Bird, is getting people to cross the bridge over the Rother for this exhibition, shows, gigs and other events.
