Calendar girl reveals all

Rye Harbour Sailability were delighted to welcome one of the original calendar girls to Playden WI Hall on Wednesday, September 15. Angela Knowles gave a humorous and at times hilarious account of how she and her friends raised £6 million (and counting) for blood cancer research. The event was supported by over 60 people and included members from Pett and Playden WI. Angela Knowles had travelled all the way from Yorkshire to donate her time and energy for the charity.

Huge thanks again to Jen and David Tomkinson who organised the tea with sandwiches, scones, jam and cream and a superb selection of Jen’s famous homemade cakes. Rye Harbour Sailability’s latest Christmas Cards were on sale. John Pulford has very kindly donated another unique design for the charity, that comically depicts Rye Harbour Sailability at the Strand in Rye. The cards are available from some local outlets including Adams of Rye or you can email

Thank you everyone for coming to support Rye Harbour Sailability and help raise £717.00 for the charity.

  1. It was such a lovely afternoon, so enjoyed Angela’s talk which was light hearted at times, inspirational and emotional all rolled into one! A wonderful tea was laid on and it was so nice to catch up with some familiar faces! Am really pleased that a lot of money was raised for this very worthwhile charity. A dear friend of mine has been out a few times sailing with Sailability and I know she so enjoys the experience and the refreshments afterwards too! Thank you to everyone who organised the day and to all those who give up their time for The Sailability Charity!
