Laura Harrison, Police Community Support Officer for Hastings & Rother Neighbourhood Policing Team, was involved in organising a Community Day at Tilling Green on Tuesday October 25.

Community Day at Tilling Green

This was an opportunity for the local community to come along and seek support and advice. Local organisations attending the community day include East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, Optivo, Citizens Advice, Nationwide Building Society, RNLI, Lifeguards, Sussex Police, and HM Coastguard.

The hall was full of activities for children including mug-painting, creating badges and having their faces painted by Glittery Rainbow Cat. There was a visit from the Fire Service who brought their appliance for the children to explore the equipment and learn what it could do.

Locals were able to chat to the different stall holders and get advice and know a bit more about the services they offered.

One stall that received a lot of attention was the East Sussex Fire and Rescue which had guidance on child car seats. There was a display stand which revealed the height of each child and the different relevant seats that were required by law. Many parents said that they had been confused by the law and the leaflet they were given helped clear up that up.

It is so valuable to have days like these which bring the community together and help them in so many ways by giving advice and, more importantly, by listening to their concerns.
