If you are wondering what to do for the August bank holiday weekend and fancy a change, why not make your way down to sunny Camber? Put away your buckets and spades, flip-flops and sun cream and head on down to The Gallivant on Monday, August 26.

Get there for 10am and treat the family to a delicious two-course jazz brunch with bucks fizz (and why not??) whilst listening to the incomparable Herbie Flowers and his band as he delivers a programme of varied music coupled with witty anecdotes and stories from his lifetime in the music industry.

Herbie is a firm favourite with the Rye Jazz Festival, performing for us once again by very popular demand. Don’t miss him, he really is a legend.

Planet Cuba with son Yambu, cool Cuban music

As if that’s not enough, later that day, at 3pm to be precise, change into your brightest clothes, throw caution to the wind and get ready to boogie as you will be entertained by non other than Planet Cuba with Son Yambu!

As well as trying a fish-finger cone, you can enjoy complimentary sparkling wine whilst immersing yourself in authentic Cuban music. Son Yambu will be sure to get you up dancing to an intoxicating fusion of Spanish and African rhythms that gave rise to salsa.

These two events are the latest additions to the packed and very varied programme of events for this year’s eighth Jazz & Blues festival. For more information and to book your tickets, go to www.ryejazz.com
