Many people feel they have a novel inside them. Few ever put pen to paper or fingers to keyboards, let alone getting their ‘babies’ published. But Rye Arts Festival has found four local authors who have written and published at least one novel apiece.

And they will be talking on September 15 at 3pm in the Rye Methodist Church as one of the events on the opening day of the 47th annual Rye Arts Festival.

The four writers are Pamela Buxton, Peter Davey, Bronwen Griffiths and Chris O’Donoghue and they will be in a panel discussion chaired by Andy Bantock – Rye’s answer to Jeremy Paxman and developing a reputation as the go-to man to interview literary figures. These talented authors all live in the Rye and Hastings area.

Come along and found out what makes these writers tick. For example, has the town helped them to develop their skills? Where do they find their inspiration? Have they chosen to write about their known environments? The literary heritage of the town is renowned – have their forebears influenced these four writers and if so, how?

Bronwen Griffiths

Pamela Buxton is the senior member of the panel and she writes under the pen name of Pamela D Holloway with a series of novels that will make you never quite sure what is going on behind closed doors.

Peter Davey is also an artist and a poet as well as having written a novel called Fraud, which has an environment that has been influenced by this area.
Come along to find out more about all these writers and, hopefully, gain the inspiration to start writing yourself!
