East Sussex has a new art gallery based in Fairlight. The gallery was being developed prior to the Covid-19 virus outbreak but, given the restrictions that we all face, its owner Jason Michael decided to go online so that prospective buyers could still buy art that they enjoy – Jason has a passion and a desire to source beautiful and interesting works of art which can be offered for sale online. Some examples of work in the gallery are shown below.

The collection extends to paintings, prints, ceramics and sculpture, reflecting an interest in modern British, contemporary and abstract work. Some of the art is from Jason’s private collection and nearly all of the artists he is showcasing are local Sussex artists. Artists selling via Jason’s gallery include Tony Bennett, Fred Cuming, Tracy Nors, Annabel Faraday, Barry Wells, and Martin Bradshaw – all of whom are local residents.

About Jason

Jason made the move from London 22 years ago, originally to Winchelsea and then to Fairlight. He trained as a Counsellor and a Clinical Supervisor and has run a private Counselling practice in Fairlight for the last 18 years. He also supervises counsellors for Macmillan at Eastbourne Hospital, St Michaels Hospice and The Sara Lee Trust whilst also providing training to various organisations. Whilst he has a speciality in Alcohol and Addiction Counselling, he also provides general counselling to individuals and couples.

Jason says “I have always had an interest in art and since my move to East Sussex I have collected work by mainly local artists. It is important for me to have a creative outlet when working so intensely, and for the last couple of years I have wanted to open a gallery. Given the economic uncertainty first with Brexit and now Covid19, I decided that the best step forward would be to launch my online gallery.”

“The art online can be viewed by appointment, in situ, at my home in Fairlight which already resembles a gallery I’ve been told! The gallery is both a mixture of art that I personally own that is now for sale and work by artists whom I am representing.Work includes Ceramics, paintings, sculpture across all decades.”

“I have chosen to showcase artists whom I have had a previous connection with prior to the gallery and it is essential for me when buying art that I have a personal connection to an artist. Having said that, artists can contact me directly so that I can consider including them on the gallery.”

The art can be viewed in situ at Jason’s beautiful home in Fairlight, which is like a gallery itself overlooking the sea. View the gallery online or contact him on 07990950775 or email jason@jasonmichael.art
