This summer, Rye and Winchelsea welcome a new kind of music festival. The inaugural Hike To The Mic takes place on Saturday, July 5, inviting music lovers to swap muddy fields
for scenic trails, combining a group hike with live music, local food and drink, and community spirit.

Kicking off in Hastings, attendees will walk together through the Hastings Country Park,
stopping at Charles Palmer Vineyard in Winchelsea for an intimate acoustic set, before
finishing at Tibbs Farm near Rye, where the main festival runs from 4pm to 10pm.

The line-up already includes The Gulls, Romain Axisa, Samuel Ashton and The Instincts, and local Rye resident, Lafferty, with more acts to be announced, spanning folk, blues, jazz, indie and rock.

The festival’s founder, Callum Preece, said: “The idea stems from my passion for three
things, hiking, live music, and community building, all of which I believe have the power to positively impact lives. Combining them into one purposeful event felt like a natural next step.

“Some of my most life-appreciating moments have been out hiking or listening to live music. This is about reconnecting with nature, with people, and with great music.”

The festival gives back, too. 10% of profits go to Warming Up The Homeless, and The
Hastings Project will be pouring their craft beer with proceeds supporting local charities and social causes.

Whether you’re up for the full 19km hike from Hastings, fancy joining from the vineyard for the final 6km stretch across the Brede Valley, or prefer to head straight to Tibbs Farm, Hike To The Mic offers a chance to explore, connect, and enjoy quality live music in a beautiful setting. With shuttle bus options, a bag taxi service and camping on-site, logistics are covered so all you have to do is come along for the adventure and enjoy the day.
