This Friday, 13 February, Rye Cricket Club commences the 2026 cricket season with indoor nets at Claremont School in Bodiam, from 7pm to 8.30pm. There is an open invitation for existing and prospective players to join us. The four-net set up facilitates players of all abilities and our Under 16 team to prepare for the forthcoming season.

The club will field three adult league sides in 2026 in the Sussex County Cricket League. There will be four junior sides: two under 11 teams, an under 13 team and an under 16 team, all who will be playing in the Ashford and District Junior Cricket League.

The club has been working to spread the game of cricket by delivering cricket in PE time at Rye Primary for five weeks, to Years 5 and 6. After half term there will be five weeks of cricket for Years 3 and 4.

We can now offer indoor hard ball practice at Rye Sports Centre, as funds from the club, Rye Sports Centre and Rye Old Scholars Association facilitated necessary repairs to the nets.

Work has also started on preparing the cricket square. In amongst the rain, a dry afternoon enabled the square to be cut and fed nutrients to aid growth in advance of the pre-season rolling in late February to March.
