“Arrivederci”

Jenny Vinter and Franco Florentine may not be names that are instantly recognisable, but if you live locally and saw them face to face you would instantly recognise them as ‘Jen and Franco’ from the Tuscan in Lion Street.

End of an era but change is inevitable.

Franco was often out of the limelight, usually buried under a mountain of dishes and sumptuous ingredients as chef and owner of the restaurant, whilst Jen was the more familiar face looking after the front end of the business.

Judging by their reviews on TripAdvisor they certainly knew how to entice their customers to return time after time, for those lucky enough to secure a table in the first place, such was their popularity and following.

A familiar sight for those lucky enough to have dined in the Tuscan Kitchen

Alas all good things must come to an end, the building has now been sold, the restaurant closed, and we wait to see what happens next  – but for those who were lucky enough to sample the culinary delights and atmosphere of the Tuscan they will no doubt savour those happy memories for a long time yet.

  1. Very sad to hear the news – in my view the best restaurant in Rye, such wonderful food, and a lovely rustic charm – we will miss you Jen and Franco and all the very best for the future!

  2. I agree with the messages of the previous two contributors. Jenny and Franco – charming people, lovely food, good restaurant. Many in Rye will miss you, especially the gourmets – or should I say buongustai!
