Getting ready for 2025

This post season is one of the most important and challenging for Rye Cricket Club, as from December 1 the club will take on responsibility for the maintenance of the cricket square and the outfield within the boundary line. This provides both a financial challenge with the extra costs of maintaining the square and the outfield and a logistical challenge of resources such as machinery and the time involved. The first step was the work in September to renovate the square. Last week the square received its first cut.

The club is very grateful for the support of local businesses through sponsorship. Skinners of Rye as adult shirt sponsor, Diamond Koz as pavilion sponsors, the George as wicket sponsors, Rush Witt & Wilson junior shirt sponsor, the Mermaid as match sponsor, Bournes Movers as Cricket Week sponsor, plus so many other businesses.

We are also grateful for the support from local charities, the Rye Fund and the Ted Baker Trust, and our guests in the pavilion of FAIR and Rye News.

This all means Rye Cricket Club will seek to both maintain and enhance not only the cricket facilities on the Salts but also the care and attention paid to an important public space in Rye.

On the playing side we are running junior coaching sessions on Thursday evening at Rye sports centre:
6pm – 7pm for school years 4-6
7pm – 8pm for school years 7-9.

There are spaces available, especially for new players with free two week taster sessions.

Next Monday Rye Cricket Club starts delivering cricket sessions in PE curiculum time at Rye Primary School for both years 5 and 6. This is funded thanks to the support of the Rye Fund.

Adult nets start February 28 2025 at Claremont School in Bodiam 7pm – 8:30pm in readiness for April 2025.

To get involved you can do so through me as club secretary: blincsfamily@aol.com or 07535 482 006.
