Despite Rye College going through a difficult time with many changes, said a spokesperson, students’ hard work has resulted in its best ever results in the GCSEs announced this week.
Excellent results were also achieved in the Studio School’s creative and performing arts subjects with nearly every student securing their desired college destination.
Earlier this year Rye News spoke to Rye Academy Trust’s Chief Executive Officer Tim Hulme about the challenges and changes.
Despite the new grading system in some GCSE subjects, standard pass rates improved on last year and some students achieved excellent individual results.
A spokesperson said the results were a credit to the staff and students for all their hard work as the college continues to make progress.

Good news indeed and a credit to both students and staff.
Given the present government’s chronic under-funding of education, one can only hope that all schools finding themselves under-staffed this September will close their gates in protest. Surgeries and hospitals cannot close. It is up to Education to lead the fight against the neo-liberal agenda of private wealth and public squalor.
You can’t judge progress against last years results. This is effectively year 0.
What they will be judged on is the progress 8 levels which will be out at the end of September.
We will then see which schools have genuinely improved and which ones in the county are more intrested in PR opportunities than raising standards for children.
