Heritage centre needs volunteers

Rye Heritage Centre has a new manager in Simon Parsons, who started on Saturday, June 5. He is working hard to re-open and welcome visitors back to view local history through the unique Rye town model sound and light show. Simon said: “I am very excited about visitors arriving and welcoming back schools from Europe, but I need help. There are lots of volunteer opportunities which can be rewarding and enjoyable for all.”

Skills and experience are welcome but not necessary as there will be training and a buddy system so no-one will carry out a role alone unless or until they have confidence to do so. You can give as much or as little time as you wish, from two hours to a half or a whole day. The commitment can be regular or ad-hoc. Being happy about communicating with the public is useful. Do get in touch with Simon if interested in helping to get this wonderful community resource to thrive and develop.

They need counter staff and hosts to take bookings for the model but there are many other roles to be filled: artists, researchers, content builders, handyman and a graphic designer – the list is endless. For more information or questions contact Simon by email at rhcmanager@icloud.com or phone 01797 226 696. He would love to speak to you.
