Since forming the Charity to take on the Rye Heritage Centre in January 2020, the trustees have had an exciting year working to adapt for Covid-19 and improve the Centre to provide another “reason to visit Rye” with a fresh focus on heritage. To complement the Rye Town Model, there will be related digital displays illustrating aspects of the rich heritage of Rye.  The tourist information elements have moved to the Town Hall.

A good deal has been achieved during the Covid_19 lockdowns. The board of trustees is extremely grateful to the outgoing manager, Nick Forman, for all his hard work and enthusiasm, but due to a change in circumstances he is no longer able to continue. As a result, the trustees now seek a replacement manager.

Leading a volunteer team

The requirement is for someone with energy and imagination to take on the day to day management of the Centre. The role is for a 30 hour paid working week. Specifically the manager would be required to recruit and lead a team of volunteers, manage the events programme, and coordinate both the information technology for the new displays and public information on social media and the website.

The role would suit someone who can plan, is organised, with effective communication skills and a good knowledge of Rye.

As a registered charity the Centre has to meet all the requirements set by the Charities Commission, with which the manager will need to become aware. The manager will work with the trustees who are there to guide and support.

Interested candidates can find out more by contacting the Rye Heritage Centre Board on Rye (01797) 222831 or in writing, direct to the Centre at the Strand. Candidates should prepare a short CV in a single page A4 format summarising experience, qualifications and skills.

The closing date is 6pm on Friday 30 April 2021. The Board will consider the candidates during first week of May with a view to making a selection by Friday 7 May 2021.
