More than a run

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the M&S Electrical Beckley 10km is a popular run which enjoys enormous local support and the atmosphere is always fizzing with race-day excitement. And, at the heart of this race, is the Beckley community with funds raised going to the Beckley Village Centre.

The weather on Sunday November 3 held fair for the time of year as over 230 athletes of all ages crossed the start line promptly at 11am for the race. A new introduction for the race this year was a 5km option which was won by HY AC’s Amy Dixon. Indeed, it was a family affair on the podium as second female across the line was Scarlett Dixon, who no doubt now has mum’s crown firmly in her sights. Harry Jeffries was the first male over the line swiftly followed by Will Hickman a mere three seconds later. Don Lawless took the third podium spot for Medway & Maidstone AC, whilst Isla Horsman took third in the female race for Hastings AC.

Over in the 10km race there was a tight battle all the way to the line where Oliver
Nash from Ashford AC eventually prevailed over Hastings Runners’ Ashley Vora,
with just six seconds between the two. Tim Allen from Weald Tri Club took the third
spot on the podium. In the female 10km race, no one could live with the pace set by
Grace Baker from Hastings AC who finished over 4½ minutes ahead of her next
competitor. Some very quick times recorded on Sunday as 2nd and 3rd on the female
podium, Hastings Runners’ Zoe Habgood and 20:20 RC’s Jodie Crouch each
recorded very impressive times.

Across both races, PBs were falling from all parts of the field. Perhaps it was the
excellent running weather, some good training or the promise of medals and cake at
the finish. Congratulations to all who took part and here’s to 2025!

We would love to give a quick shout out to our friends and sponsors at M&S Electrical for their continued support without which, this race would not be able to continue. With over twenty years of experience providing reliable and efficient service, M&S Electrical offer advice, support and guidance for a whole host of domestic electrical work and services.

The Beckley 10k and 5k runs are organised by the team from Nice Work, the race management company based at Rye Wharf, on behalf of Beckley Village Centre.
