Sussex Police have confirmed that a person is currently assisting officers with their enquiries following the vandalism at Rye Cemetery just before Christmas.
A car was driven across the grounds damaging graves, headstones and floral tributes on Tuesday 23 December.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said, “Following a thorough investigation, we are not seeking anyone else in connection with this matter. We would like to thank the public for their continued support and will keep you updated on the case.”
Increased patrols

Sussex Police say they are putting in extra morning patrols at Rye railway station starting from Monday 19 January.
The patrols, which follow residents concerns about anti-social behaviour, will also cover the station toilets and outside Jempson’s.
Road crash blocks line

The rail line between Rye and Ashford International was closed on Tuesday 13 January after a fatal road accident at Hamstreet closed the tracks.
At approximately 3.15pm a silver Vauxhall Meriva was travelling south on the A2070 when it was involved in a collision with a purple Volvo tanker travelling in the opposite direction.
The car then struck a barrier and the tanker jack-knifed, with the tractor unit leaving the carriageway and entering a wooded embankment and an area adjacent to a railway line.
The car driver, a man in his 40s, was confirmed deceased and his next of kin has been informed. The tanker driver was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for injuries.
Kayleigh Oliver saw the accident. “I was around 6-8 cars away as it happened. I’ve never seen anything like it and am still shaken. My heart goes out to the family of the man who died.”
Rail services resumed at breakfast time on Wednesday 14 January.
Promoting Camber

Camber businesses that have expressed concern at the drop in their trade, especially after the plastic pellet pollution on the beach, are invited to a meeting at the Camber Castle pub on 17 January at 1pm, to discuss ways to promote the area.
Organiser of the local campaign, Love Local, Use Local Promoting Camber Sands Businesses, Gaz Jones, hopes that the meeting will inform businesses of the local situation and will discuss ideas that came out from their previous meeting held on 20 December. “A number of suggestions have been put forward and will require the support of all Camber businesses. This includes engagement with local authorities about the ongoing situation surrounding the environmental damage to Camber’s beach as well as how to promote all that is good at Camber Sands.”

Consultation into the big change in local government in Rye for over 50 years has just finished.

A final decision is expected to be made in the spring.
