In her last newsletter as chairman of the Friends of the Hospital at Rye, Sally Compton tells of great activity around as architects, engineers, planners, healthcare managers, historians and wildlife experts all add their expertise to the developing plans for the new day care centre. She will be handing over the chair at the AGM on Monday October 30 to Gillian Roder, a Friend, Volunteer and former Occupational Therapist, who lives in Rye.

Barry Nealon, chairman of the Board of Trustees, writes that planning consent has been obtained for the care centre on the former ambulance site and the detailed planning application has been submitted for the 60-bed care home, as reported in Rye News earlier. Fundraising for the projects continue: there is a bridge and afternoon tea in Udimore hall on Monday, November 8 (tickets £44 per table of four) and the Christmas Fair will be held at St Mary’s church, on Saturday December 9.  For more information email Stephanie Faulkner-Smith at fundraising@ryehospital.org.uk or visit the hospital website
