A new service for people with speech or communication difficulties – the Pegasus card – will make contacting the emergency services quicker and easier. On registering for the card, a users’ details are stored in a database so that, for an emergency call, they need give only a pin number and can explain their problem immediately, not spending valuable time providing personal details.

Launched by Sussex Police, the scheme is also being supported by South East Coast Ambulance Service, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. Users can also show their card to staff from these organisations face-to-face to get the help and support they need more quickly.

To find out more and to apply for a card, visit Sussex Police website. More information about Sussex Police’s work to support disabled people in the community can be found online.
