Towering crane on a new mission

I liked the photo of the museum piece Tornborg Magni S 46 tower crane you had in Rye last year for the apartments of the Cinque Ports development and noted the contractor was Jenner Builders.

Well that crane has now been erected in Canterbury next door to the Premier Inn on an even smaller site than the one in Rye. Jenner Builders is the contractor for building a five storey apartment block for Orbit Homes. I have heard that this crane dates back to 1978. It is still performing its task with a weight limit of just over 2t.

That is not the only one in Canterbury. At present there are three others, two at the University on top of the hill, one large jib luffer at the old Peugeot dealer, and one more to be erected at the famous Spitfire St Lawrence Cricket Ground for McCarthy and Stone.
