Trying new things

The Mexican Wrestler is back and this time he’s got himself into a spot of bother. Jesus Carveros is an artist living in Rye. His work takes many forms – from spoken word and performance to appropriated found pieces to pottery, painting and sculpture. He also works with text as part of his practice.

Jesus describes himself as “a Mexican wrestler that doesn’t wrestle”. It’s more a way of life. Most days he wears a Mexican wrestler’s mask and workman’s overalls. He advocates a pared back simple existence. His work reflects his philosophy and approach to living. Far less is far more.

“Diary Entries” is a series of text-based pieces we are publishing in Rye News. We think you might find them intriguing and inspiring…

Does anyone know how to get your foot out of a drainpipe?

I spent the afternoon putting my foot into different drainpipes and it’s got stuck.

Now I can’t get it out.

I don’t want to cut the drainpipe.

Or take my shoe off.

It’s cold and I’m wearing thin socks.

I should have worn thicker socks but I didn’t.

It’s my left foot.

My right foot is OK.

Both hands are fine too.

I’m wearing my leather gardening gloves.

It’s getting dark.

And cold. Any advice will be much appreciated.

This has never happened before.

I mean my foot has never got stuck before.

That said I’ve not put it up a drainpipe before.

Isn’t it odd when you try new things.

Sometimes they work out fine.

Sometimes they don’t.

This time it hasn’t.

  1. At least you’re sharing learning from your good mistake . Maybe try your left foot next time. What could possibly go right.

  2. Jesus is a modern day Edward the conqueror slashing and burning away the old the old thoughts worries and concerns and replacing us with a new order and a new way of thinking
