On Monday 27 April Rye and District Camera Club (RDCC) held its AGM and presentation of certificates and trophies that had been won by members during the previous season.

The trophy winners were:

Douglas Moss Trophy – Boats won by Jeff Grice
Roy Stubbs Competition – Pair of Stiks won by Stu Muswell
Small Print – Oak Apples won by Veryan Pollard
Peter Chillingworth Shield – Camouflage of the Mottled Umber Moth won by Melvin Smith
PDI of the year – Kestrel has Vole won by Terry George

The other trophies, Mather Parlett, Gostrow Competition(Winter’s Breath), PDI Delamare Competition (Fairy Bridge, Glen Creron) and Print Of The Year (Alert Cormorant) were all won by Norman Ferguson who also had quite a haul of certificates in other competitions winning seven firsts, three seconds and two thirds.

Other certificate winners were Carol Hall, Colin Page, Helen Taylor Shore, Kathy Huddle, Paul Praeger, Sam Muswell, Sue McDermid and Tony Ham.

Norman Ferguson commented, “I was thrilled to win a few trophies at the club this year. Unlike some camera clubs our club is thriving and the standard is very strong. It is a welcoming club which is reflected in increasing membership. I note that next year we have a great programme of talks and competitions which I am looking forward to.”

The club’s next season starts on Monday 7 September at Iden Village Hall followed by the Annual Print Exhibition on 19 and 20 September at St. Mary’s Centre. Anyone interested in photography who might want to join us is welcome to come along to a meeting and have a chat – we are a very friendly club. Many local photographic clubs have folded and it is so important to keep the RDCC strong and forward-looking and this requires new enthusiasm and new blood to combine with the already strong and vibrant members.

Why not pay the exhibition a visit and see what we are up to? There will be club members available all over the weekend. If you’re interested in or need help with a certain area of photography there is bound to be someone with similar interests.
