Gone but not forgotten

It looks a little sad at the moment, the empty facia that once bore the livery of Simon Milne jewellers at 28 High Street, Rye.

The number 28 is quite significant: it’s also the number of years Simon has been successfully trading in Rye.

But regrettably, all good things must come to an end and October 1 marked the closing down sale and last day of physical trading on the high street.

The name Simon Milne may have disappeared from Rye but thankfully the story doesn’t end there, for Simon is keeping his workshop open for repairs and new commissions and now provides a more personal service through home visits and appointments.

Simon has a huge following and soon you will have the opportunity to catch up with him in person. If you are planning a celebration or wedding and fancy a trip out to rural Peasmarsh, then the wedding showcase at The Cherry Barn on November 13 is the place for you (see Getting hitched? Read on in this week’s Rye News).

Owners Mel and Steve Reeve are once again hosting this popular event at Clayton Farm in Church Lane, Peasmarsh from 10am -3pm and Simon is very excited to be taking part.
