Scouts home at last

More than 100 people converged on the new scout centre for a scout fest to celebrate its opening. Fire lighting, dough twists, knotting, tent erecting, wood branding and first aid were among the many activities and there was the chance to make valuable donations. The grand opening will be next year and the scouts are hoping that Chief Scout Bear Grylls will be able to attend. Scout leader William Perfitt said: “We have to finish off the grounds with grass seeding, fencing and professional signage. We have applied for a grant from Lloyds Bank Community Funding and you can vote for us by going into the Rye branch and voting, or you can text voteMZP to 61119.”
