Icklesham Casuals’ 1st team had a good 4-0 win against Hastings Rangers at the weekend in a game played in difficult windy conditions, after the game had to be switched to Bexhill Road because the Recreation ground was unfit for play.

They took the lead in the 12th minute when the ball broke to Bradlee Mepham on the edge of the area and he fired into the roof of the net. A fine move down the left led to the second goal on 22 minutes when Phil Badrock headed in Joe Fraser’s cross.

The rhythm was disrupted five minutes later when Steffan Davies was forced off injured. Hastings Rangers created chances themselves, but failed to convert these to leave the score 2-0 at the break.

The game was made safe in the 69th minute when the Rangers keeper fumbled Mepham’s left foot shot into the net. Both sides continued to threaten the goal with Fraser going close on a couple of occasions, while Jack Davies in the Icklesham goal was ever alert and pulled off an excellent flying save to deny Rangers.

Sammy Foulkes on debut looked powerful in the Icklesham midfield. With two minutes to go, a long clearance found Ian Oliver clean through and his cool finish left the final score at 4-0.
