With the Eagles making their usual slow start, the football match was very even for the first 25 minutes. Their first clear chance went to Lucas Zon, heading at goal after a great cross from Ben Nicholas, only to see the ball come back off the post. Then the Eagles started to dominate the midfield.

They began making more chances, with Brad Sayer shooting wide and some goal mouth scrabbles from corners, the goal was coming! Oli Skinner delivered a great free kick in from the right for Charlie Newman to head home 0-1, and minutes later  Zon through on goal, lobbed past the keeper, only to see the ball strike the cross bar.

After half-time Beckley started well with Josh Green denied by some good keeping by the Tunbridge goalie. With Olly Bunn and Charlie Smith taking control of the middle of the pitch for Beckley, Foresters’ best chances of getting back into game were coming from their wingers. And Beckley’s Jordan Swain and Ben Nicholas had to be at the top of their game to keep them at bay.

With some good work from Rangers’ Tommy Ackerley and Skinner going forward, the second goal looked to be coming. Beckley broke away from a Tunbridge corner with Skinner switching play to Sam Garner, who beat a Tunbridge defender and calmly slotted home goal number two for Beckley. Rangers then gave themselves a nervous last five minutes when Tunbridge struck back 1-2, but the result was never in doubt. Lankelma and MPL Productions’ man of match was shared between Charlie Newman and Charlie Smith.
