Rye continued their winning start to the indoor cricket season, at the Horntye leisure centre, Hastings, with a 22 run win over Ashburnham. Upon winning the toss, captain Dan Seabrook (10) and James Hamilton (5) started the Rye innings off.

However both fell in quick succession to the Ashburnham bowling of A.Baker (1 for 15) and J.Munrow (1 for 19).William Wheeler (24) and Mickey Toomey (32) then made a well compiled 50 run partnership, punishing the back wall and making good use of running between the wickets, before the former was caught off the bowling of S.Mill.

Rye continued to add the runs on when Spencer Fielding hit a quick fire 25 to take the final total to 107 for 4.

Ashburnham’s reply got off to a good start before wicket keeper Seabrook’s spectacular direct hit at the bowler’s end ran out S Mills (6). At 18 for 1 Ashburnham dug their heels into the Rye bowling attack, accumulating a partnership of 34 before Ben Clifton (1 for 24) ran out J Munrow (25).

However the introduction of Man of the Match Mickey Toomey (2 for 9) and also Fielding (2 for 0) proved too much as Ashburnham were all out for 85 in the eleventh over.
