Subtle celebrations of Yuletide

In a historic town like Rye, with a Conservation Area, Christmas is celebrated discreetly with a more subtle sophistication in some parts of town, and the Planning Enforcement Officer from Rother District Council may even be summoned in the unthinkable event of unsuitable decorations.

But good taste generally prevails and photographer Ray Prewer has captured some examples, of which Mapp and Lucia (the heroines of Rye author EF Benson’s comedic novels) might have approved.
