Icklesham Casuals 1st team looked to progress to the 3rd round of the Sussex Bluefin Junior Challenge Cup with the visitors Trojans having made the long journey from Aldingbourne near Chichester to the Recreation Ground.

The first half was a fairly even affair possession-wise although Icklesham had the better chances with Phil Badrock producing an excellent save from the Trojans keeper as well as just failing to connect with a fine left-wing cross from Steffan Davies who also went close on several occasions.

The deadlock was broken three minutes before the break following an excellent run down the right wing by Val Newman, who squared the ball for Davies to finish. A fine left-foot strike from Badrock eight minutes into the second period made it 2-0 before Jack Davies saved a point blank follow-up effort from a Trojans forward, having stopped an initial shot from the edge of the area.

The game was made safe in the 59th minute when Asa Croucher planted a free kick from 25 yards into the roof of the net. Badrock went on to complete his hat trick, Steffan Davies got his second of the game with Val Newman and Lee Pierce completing the scoring. There was also time for goalkeeper Jack Davies to save a Trojans penalty. The match also saw young Solomon Cooke make his debut for the 1st team as a second-half substitute.

Icklesham Casuals won the game 8-0 and now travel away to Worthing Town Leisure Thirds in the Third round on December 3.
