RNLI Rye Harbour lifeboat crew made a special appearance on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway – in the hit programme’s End of the Show Show. Martin Bruce, the founder of Round Rye Bay Singers, a local shanty group, played the concertina and was joined by Izzy and Tia Bolton, Tim Dickinson and Stuart Clark, all members of the crew at Rye Harbour.

The team joined other RNLI crews from Sheringham and Portishead. The song was based on the hit sea shanty “The Wellerman” which was sung by Scottish sea shanty star Nathan Evans and specially tailored for the show.

The former postman, 26, from Airdrie, became an online sensation this year after the song blew up on TikTok and saw him race to the top of the charts and land a record deal.

Nathan joined Ant and Dec on stage alongside the RNLI crews for the sing-a-long during the grand finale of the Saturday night primetime show.

Many celebrities joined in virtually including Joan Collins, Brian May, Laura Whitmore, Chris and Rosie Ramsay, Drag Race’s Lawrence and many more.
