This year’s bowls fundraising event, for our fabulous Rye Fire Brigade, went extremely well with all six rinks in play, on a glorious summer’s day. There was a real buzz about, with more than 60 players and supporters.

We are sure that everyone enjoyed their afternoon on the green. Although a light-hearted fun competition, the firefighters upped their game and won 83 points to Rye’s 75.

The total raised was over £600, on the day, which will be split between the fire brigade benevolent fund and the bowls club.

This annual fundraising match, for our local fire brigade, was supported by firefighters, family and supporters, as well as many of the bowls club’s members. Our enthusiastic mayor, Andy Stuart, joined in this light-hearted challenge match and the afternoon culminated with a barbecue.

The new self-managed bowls club continues to thrive and to attract new members. We are holding a free taster morning on bank holiday Monday, August 25 10:30am to 12:30pm, so please join us. If you can’t make that day and would like to give it a go just get in touch, or simply turn up at one of our informal fun practice sessions (on Monday, Wednesday or Friday at 10:30am, or on Tuesday evening at 7pm
