The Tuesday Painters Club of Rye is holding its annual exhibition and sale of art at St Mary’s Centre, Lion St, Rye from 8 August to 15 August. Entry is free, and visitors can view the work of 34 talented members. The paintings are also available to buy.
It has become a tradition for members of the club to produce a plethora of material to promote their August exhibitions and for that purpose it is now also customary to invite members to submit a piece of work to what it calls its Promo Competition. This year, the various entries were judged by their much esteemed vice president and eminent Rye artist, Richard Adams.
The chosen entry, by Lisa Kossuth, is a departure from the traditional work the Tuesday Painters are used to seeing and Richard says he had a hard time selecting his winner. “That was difficult!” he commented afterwards. The painting stood out as a very well thought out, very contemporary piece of work that would hold its own in any painting exhibition. “Bleak and beautiful,” added Richard.
The image features on banners – see them in place now at St. Mary’s Centre – posters, leaflets and advertising, while the original can be viewed – or purchased – along with more of Lisa’s paintings. Watch this space for more details about Lisa and her work next week.
