Midsummer festival lights up
Northiam Bonfire Society will be lighting up the sky over the weekend of June 20/21 with a Midsummer Festival. Saturday includes a dog show in the day and a BBQ and music in the evening and Sunday will host a Boot Fair with refreshments. There will be a beer festival in 'The Highwayman's Inn' both days. Many Vodaphone customers in Rye have been experiencing erratic service for some weeks. This has now been traced to an intermittent problem with the mast in Playden. Nick Taylor investigates
Counting cars for the council
The county council closes the road past Rye's hospital for two weeks - but seems to have no idea how many patients will be affected, or how many cars use the site. Charles Harkness from Rye News went up the hill, and counted the cars in, and counted them out, so ESCC know how many lives their actions will affect. And the Town Council will keep protesting and asking questions about the county council's apparently ill-thought-out plans
Rother bowls out club bar
Following the failure of the now-defunct football club to obtain the correct building certificate, Rother Building Control have refused permission for the new owners, Rye Cricket Club, to use the bar and club room
Kshemal start does not end well
The cricket season continued as the 1st team looked to to win their 4th game in a row as they travelled away to Henfield and the 2nd team were at home to Burgess Hill. However high hopes were bumped down to earth as the 1st were skittled out. But the 2nd did well in a tight finish. Clouds loom over the pavilion though, as Martin Blincow reports
