A259 death crash: police appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision involving two motorcyclists and two cars on the A259 Hastings Road, Winchelsea on Sunday morning, September 27, at 11:45am.

A 41-year-old man from Cranbrook, Kent, who was riding a Suzuki motorbike travelling west, collided with a Toyota Yaris car which was waiting to turn right, a Honda motorbike which was also travelling west, and a C1 Citroen car. He suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where he sadly died Sunday night.
The driver of the Toyota Yaris, a 47-year-old woman from Winchelsea, suffered whiplash and shock along with her passenger, a seven-year-old girl. They were both taken to the Conquest Hospital, Hastings. The other motorcyclist, a 35-year-old woman from Hawkhurst, Kent, suffered a broken pelvis and ankle. She was also taken to the Conquest. The driver of a Citroen C1, a 65-year-old Rye man, was not injured.
