Business hubs in central Rye

Two interesting buildings in the heart of Rye are both enjoying a new lease of life , thanks to the hard work, skill and sheer determination of entrepreneur Jane Brook and her husband Dan.

Space. Coworking is based at The Old Cinema in Fishmarket Road, opposite the Bedford Place Car Park.

On Friday, August 9 coworking spaces all over the world will be opening their doors and inviting those who would normally work in isolation to join them and discover how coworking can unite communities by connecting with like-minded individuals to provide a happier, healthier and more productive working environment.

A calm and quiet space to work

This is a free event running from 9am to 5pm as part of a global initiative involving a group of more than 14,000 coworking spaces which attract over 1 million coworking members across the world.

Inside the building the atmosphere is one of professional calm and combines the character of the original building coupled with all you would expect of a thriving, well-equipped working environment.

Just around the corner (literally) is the Brewery Yard Club in Landgate, formerly the Royal British Legion Club, now a smart and professional multi-functional space offering a varied and interesting calendar of events throughout the year.

This Tuesday saw a free presentation on behalf of SECCADS, aimed at creative and digital businesses offering grants of up to £20,000 available for new start-ups, sole traders, festivals and the creative arts.

There was a good attendance with free hospitality but disappointingly, despite a well publicised marketing campaign there were only two Rye-based businesses represented, a missed opportunity for Rye fund raisers whilst many representatives from various organisations in Hastings, Bexhill and St Leonards soon filled all the empty seats.

The two venues host a regular programme of events and if you wanted to hire by the hour, week or month there is a menu of options available to you. Hot desks, conference and meeting rooms, free refreshments and WiFi facilities are all available. A smart function room complete with bar and toilets would be ideal for private parties and celebrations, right in the very heart of Rye.

Be sure to contact Jane Brook for more information on 01797 222857 or email her on info@spacecoworking.co.uk.

Better still, why don’t you just take a few minutes to pop in and see what it’s all about, you will be very pleasantly surprised.
