The annual candlelit carol service will be held at St Mary’s, East Guldeford (just off the A259), on Sunday December 21 at 2.30pm, writes Ray Prewer. The Rye Singers, who have been attending this service for a number of years, will lead the congregation in the carols as well as performing songs on their own. If you are going to attend, wrap up well as it can be cold in the church, which dates back to 1505.  The service, which is always held on the last Sunday before Christmas, is a great way to get the festive season under way.
