Rye Christmas Festival has announced that this year’s festival is cancelled because of the pandemic – but some aspects of it may be possible where there are no social distancing problems.
In particular Father Christmas may be able to make a flying visit – as opening his grotto would be impossible – and the Christmas lights will go up, if enough volunteers can be found to do this.
More details in next week’s Rye News.

That is sad for the town but totally understandable! In regard to Father Christmas I have always felt he should be wandering the streets and in normal circumstances meeting the children as they go along and he could have for example a selection of small gifts even selection boxes etc on board and hand them out as he goes! This way hopefully all children could bump into him!
