Consider the lilies

This is exactly what the  two flower arrangers tasked with placing forty lilies into suitable displays were doing on Good Friday! The parishioners of St Peter and St Paul, Peasmarsh had paid for the lilies, in remembrance of their loved ones over the Easter Festival. Mrs ‘D’ Bull and her helper had the very enjoyable job of making arrangements in the church, to do justice to the thought that had gone into such a purchase.

St Peter and St Paul looked its absolute best in the spring sunshine, with the daffodils out in the churchyard and the old church peaceful in its setting. The churchyard had a few people arranging flowers on the graves and there were quite a lot of walkers coming in and out of the church as the work progressed. Lilies are not that easy to place, as the stems are fleshy and it took the two ladies a little while to master the art. Once that was done, and the greenery put in, work continued apace. At the end, with three large arrangements completed, as ‘D’ put it, “not bad for two amateurs!”

The Flower Festival, an enormous success last year, thanks to the efforts of ‘D’ and a small army of willing helpers, is to be held over the weekend of May 28 to May 30, so come and see more examples of the flower arrangers art, in a beautiful, bright country church. Visitors are also most welcome at church services every first and third Sunday at 10am.
