After 12 years trading in the High Street, Rye Deli has opened a new shop ‘Just Around the Corner’ in Market Road on Monday, June 22, writes Kenneth Bird. The larger premises provides scope for stocking and displaying a wider range of local, English and continental produce. New features include a separate cheese department, and a machine for producing organic coffee from the Rye Bay Coffee Company. In addition to patisseries, quiches, fresh salads and charcuteries, ready-made snacks are available for take-away. The High Street branch will re-open shortly, initially selling ice-cream and then developing into producing home-made meals with a broad range from everyday meals to dinner parties. The business employs ten full and part-time staff, “some of whom have been with me from the beginning”, said proprietor Dezi Dalton, expressing delight at the positive reception that has greeted her new venture.
