Last night, Thursday November 26, I went to the Quiz Night at the Ypres Castle Inn to raise funds for Great Expectations- A Dickensian Christmas in Rye. I am a quiz novice but signed up for the Museum Relics.

There were eight rounds of 10 questions per round. There were the more normal rounds of sport, music and recent news and a couple of specials, Charles Dickens and Christmas. 12 teams entered with a maximum of 6 team members. The early leaders were Golden Ratio, Hammers and Museum Relics. As the evening moved on these three maintained their lead, with the final result Golden Ratio ( 68 points ), Hammers (60 points) and Museum Relics ( 53 points ) holding thee top three spots.

The evening raised over £150 for Rye’s Christmas event. On the day, Saturday December 12, local people are needed to help with marshalling, acting as runners, stewards and event assistants and Procession assistants. The events run from 10.00 to 19.00. You would be very welcome, even if you can just help for an hour. Please email Liz Pamdennis using liz@christmasinrye.co.uk  if you can help.

This was a great evening and the staff at the Ypres worked very hard to make it a success.
