Fundraising for ancient bicycle

This Friday October 16 Rye’s Museum is holding a fundraiser to cover the costs of restoring this ancient penny farthing bicycle (shown above), so-called because of the different sizes of its front and back wheels.

The evening starts at 6:30pm in the Museum’s East Street site with wine and cheese and tickets are £12 on the door.

The event then moves on to the Town Hall for a performance by the Rye Shakespeare Company. Last year they performed a play suggesting that Disneyland should take over the running of Rye from Rother District Council so anything’s possible in this latest performance – like replacing the much neglected Landgate with a plastic replica perhaps.
