Market Street and Mermaid Street will be closed for several days and transformed into the 1800s this week as filming takes place for a period drama with a working title January Nights.

There will be changes made to the appearance of the streets with Regency props and set dressing to the houses and streets, along with some horses and carriages in use.

Parking

Some bays on the High Street and East Cliff will be suspended to park technical vehicles.

The company will do their best to maintain pedestrian and delivery access to local residents and businesses but ask people to “be mindful of filming equipment, props and working crew when walking through dressed Market Street”.

Kurtis Parker, location manager, said: “We understand that filming on location can cause disruption, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this might cause. Please be assured that our priority is to work respectfully with your community. Our team will do everything possible to limit our impact on residents, maintain access and keep noise to a minimum.

“Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated. If you need any further information, have specific questions, or experience any disturbance during out filming, please do not hesitate to contact me on 07523 356 102 or email kurtisjamesparker@gmail.com”

  1. I can remember when an episode of Black Mirror was filmed in Rye with none other than the wonderfull Aaron Paul wandering around Rye. And I missed him , and I have never recovered from the disappointment of seeing my crush in real life.. so I will discreetly be buzzing around like the first swallow of spring in anticipation of maybe a major star swanning around a la mr darcy. Lol.
