Rye College was delighted and proud to host its Year 6 Transition Programme this week – our first one since 2019 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Students enjoyed a carousel of activities and lessons to familiarise themselves with our school and make the big step up to secondary school.

Mr. Harrison, director of learning and transition programme lead said: “It has been wonderful to welcome Year 6 back into school. Our new students have really enjoyed the transition activities and made lots of new friends ready for their start with us in September. We’re really proud of how they have positively embraced every opportunity, being kind to each other and really committed to this next exciting chapter!

“This year, we welcome over 120 new Year 7 students coming from a wide range of local primary schools. We’re delighted that 90% of Rye Community Primary School Year 6 families have chosen us, demonstrating the value of being part of a family of local schools, where we serve the young people of Rye from two to sixteen years of age.

“As this academic year draws to a close, we are so happy that so many of the traditional school milestones have returned and are really looking forward to a really successful 2022/23.”
