Around 30 people from the Rye churches gathered for this service, which was led by Rev Fiona Gill (Rye Baptist Church). Fr. Matthew Chadwick (St Anthony’s RC) read a passage from the Book of Job, Canon Richard Orchard (Secretary) and Paul Martin (Treasurer) led prayers and Canon David Frost (Rector of Rye with Rye Harbour) preached and played the organ.

There was a fresh breeze but the sun shone brightly, and Canon David Frost remarked: “For the past three years we have deliberately come to Rye Harbour for this service, as Sea Sunday is all about giving thanks and supporting those who earn their living from and work on the sea, sailors and lifeboat crews. Everyone looks forward to this service and once again, it was much enjoyed.”
