[Those who remember the mid-Atlantic tones of commentator Kent Walton when, on Saturday afternoons in the late 1960s and 1970s, he presented professional wrestling with the likes of Mick McManus, Giant Haystacks, the masked Kenzo and others as they (supposedly) knocked seven bells out of each other, often egged on by old ladies in the front row, will get a chance to relive those days and see it live at the end of next week – Editor]

The best wrestling action in the UK comes to Rye on Saturday January 21 as the superstars of LDN Wrestling are set to rumble through the Rye Creative Centre in New Road as part of their 2017 nationwide tour. Featuring some of the country’s top grapplers, including LDN British Champion Alan Lee Travis and the mysterious Dark Lord, a spectacular night of high-impact action is guaranteed.

Celebrating its 13th anniversary this year, the LDN promotion has become synonymous with top quality live events, perfectly blending the glitz and glamour of American sports entertainment with traditional British wrestling to create a modern approach to wrestling that is always a great night out for people of all ages – from children to grandparents, LDN shows have something for everyone.

Ouch!

“It’s always an honour to defend the LDN title in front of our great fans” said the former heavyweight champion Alan Lee Travis, head coach at LDN’s training schools and one of the hottest British wrestling prospects in years. “I’m looking forward to getting to Rye early and giving them a match to remember”.

Dark Lord, the self-professed sadistic, violent man of mystery, is considerably less humble; “I’ve wrestled all around the world and came to LDN because I’ve heard this is where the real competition is” claims the masked maniac. “Forget about beating me; there’s nobody who can even last five minutes in the ring with me and it’s going to be no different in Rye. If my opponent has any brains, they won’t even turn up…”

The event will also feature thrilling, hard-hitting bouts including high-flying Joey Scott, rugged brawler Jekyll , the international Dark Lord, as well as a very special guest appearance by British wrestling legend Dave Walker.
