A quiet voice . . .

This editorial from Motorcycle News has crossed my desk – or, more accurately, the piece of wood on which my computer balances – and I wondered how successful it was.

My motorcycling days probably ended when I slid down some stairs into the booking office of Maidstone East railway station – bike and all – after failing to get round a sharp corner (or that’s my story anyway).

And I was in fact writing a feature for the Kent Messenger at the time (in the 60s) on a new motorcycle safety course which (clearly) was of little benefit to me.

I am therefore ambivalent (I’m not taking sides) about comments on bikers’ behaviour, but I think (as Rye News’ editor) we could all listen to the quieter voice in this editorial.
