The Peasmarsh Flower Festival was held over May 28, 39 and 30 in St Peter and St Paul’s Church. What a display! The theme, “Celebrations”, was widely interpreted by the flower arrangers, whose names were proudly displayed in the church. The leader of this wonderful effort, Deidre Bull, encouraged, cajoled and worked so hard alongside her team of arrangers. Some of us were experienced, some less so and input from local professionals was all part of it. The results were beautiful, no doubt about it.
There were celebrations of birth, marriage, wedding anniversaries, to name a few. There were beautiful hearts and flowers hanging from the lights, joined rings and celebrations of the 90th birthday of the Queen. There were fun displays of a toy drum, made completely with flowers, including the drum sticks, the Mad Hatters Tea Party and more. Each display had a verse attached to it, taken from different relevant texts. This great addition, much enjoyed by the visitors, was put together by Alex Boatwright Smith.
Teas, coffee and food were available in the newly refurbished Stable Kitchen, led by an industrious team of ladies and much appreciated by the many visitors. Plants were for sale, provided from the lovely local gardens and proved really popular with an almost complete sell out on Friday, hastily replenished, of course.
Next year, the Flower Festival will be held over the same weekend and everyone will be welcome again. Thanks must go to Deidre for her hard work and inspiration. She would love to hear from other new contributors.
