On the evening of Monday May 13  the Rye junior cricket season got underway as the Rye U11A team travelled to Egerton and the Rye U11B team hosted Ashford Town U11B team.

The Rye U11A team had a convincing 87 run victory. In the pairs format where everybody bats and bowls, Rye scored 105 runs and lost only one wicket, as Charlie Cooke top scored with 37. In reply, Egerton scored 58 runs but lost 9 wickets. Luke Rogers took 3-7, with the other bowlers all securing a wicket.

The Rye U11B team lost to Ashford Town. Rye scored 80 but lost 8 wickets. Ashford scored 80 but only lost 1 wicket.

The vast majority of the players were experiencing their first taste of hardball cricket, and all displayed a great deal of enthusiasm and potential.

On Tuesday the U16 fixture away to Folkestone was cancelled due to rain. Next Monday the U11A team host Boughton & Eastwell and the B team travel to Mersham B. On Tuesday the U16 host Ashford Town and on Thursday the U13 host Tenterden U13.
