A mapping service showing the locations of the houses and shops in the Mapp and Lucia series is now online, created by local web services company Domain Support Ltd. The site – www.mappandluciarye.uk  – uses Google Maps to highlight the literary locations, as EF Benson used them in the novels, as well as the properties used in the London Weekend Television 1980’s series and last year’s BBC adaption. Site users can walk around the town using their smartphones to locate the buildings and access information about them, writes Seana Lanigan.

Oliver Campion, Director of Domain Support explains: “It was mentioned at Rye Chamber of Commerce meetings that something should be produced to guide tourists around the film locations as many would be interested. We decide to rise to the challenge as we are happy to support the town”. Campion worked closely with Allan Downend, Secretary of the EF Benson Society, to ensure that the locations are correct and complete. A few years ago Domain Support set up www.keanetrail.org.uk for the Battle Marketing Group aimed at fans of the band Keane.
