The doors opened spot on the hour at 10am and Shirley Gibson (pictured, left) handed out the shopping cards with a welcome to each of the market’s customers.
Flowers were in short supply (though I bought some), but there were the usual tempting stalls with cakes, vegetables and jams.
Better still, the geese had been laying, and I came away with two lovely goose eggs and a double serving of John Holbroook’s chicken curry. (John, seated left, also took my money)
With a hot cup of tea or coffee available, it is a good place to meet up with friends on a Friday morning – and the Rye Country Market takes place at the Community Centre on Conduit Hill from 10am (sharp!).
