The Rural Employability Project recently held another successful recruitment day at Tilling Green Community Centre and recruitment days and roadshows have proved successful in the past in recruiting staff for local businesses including Jempsons, Pontins and Family Mosaic. On this occasion, those employers were joined by Chapmans of Rye, Bluebird Care Agency, Rye Firefighters and English language schools to provide a wide and varied range of job opportunities for all those who attended.

The Rural Employability Project provides a Work Club service from Tilling Green Community Centre, with drop in sessions running three days a week, Tuesday 1:30-3pm and Wednesday/Friday 10am-noon, with staff and volunteers on hand to assist with job search and IT support. Further support is provided in sessions by rural and benefits advisors. We also provide adult skills checks and adult literacy support to anyone who feels they can benefit from this service.

In addition to Work Club sessions, by working in partnership with other organisations like Sussex Coast College in Hastings, Rother Voluntary Action, Rye Children’s Centre, and Future Youth Training, the project provides local people the opportunity to access personal and career development training courses. Future courses coming very soon include “Is Microsoft Excel a mystery to you?” starting June 16 2015; “Employability” starting  July 1 2015 ; and “Basic IT” starting July 15 2015.

Project staff are on hand to answer any questions about the Rural Employability Project Monday-Friday 9am-2pm so please call 01797 229600 and ask to speak to Flora, Michelle or Tina. Alternatively email on flora.williams@ryepartnership.org. The Rural Employability Project is funded by the Department for Work and Pensions flexible support fund, and provides support for local people to improve their employment prospects.
